HOW SUPPLIED/STORAGE AND HANDLING:

Care should be exercised in the handling of ZOLADEX. ZOLADEX Injections should not be opened or broken. Store this medication in its original pack between 2°C and 25°C.

DOSAGE

The recommended goserelin dose is 3.6mg, should be administered subcutaneously every 28 days into the anterior abdominal wall below the navel line using an aseptic technique under the supervision of a healthcare practitioner.

SIDE EFFECTS

Most common adverse reactions in men include hot flashes, decreased erections, sexual dysfunction, lower urinary tract symptoms and tumor flare.
Most common adverse reactions in women treated for breast cancer, dysfunctional uterine bleeding or endometriosis include: hot flushes, sweating, headache, acne, emotional lability, decreased libido, depression, vaginitis, breast atrophy, peripheral edema, seborrhea and tumor flare.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

  • Women should be apprised against becoming pregnant during treatment with goserelin 10.8 mg/3.6 mg.
  • Patients should be monitored for the levels of blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) periodically.
  • Patients with GnRH agonists need to be monitored for the symptoms and signs suggestive of the development of cardiovascular disease.
  • Additional caution must be imposed when administering zoladex to patients with reduced BMI or to patients taking full dose anticoagulation.
  • A woman must not begin treatment with zoladex 10.8 mg/3.6 mg in case she has undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding, or is allergic to any of the components of this medication.
  • Menstruation should stop with effective goserelin doses. Patient must notify her doctor in case regular menstruation persists. Patients missing 1 or more successive zoladex doses may have breakthrough menstrual bleeding.
