Anastrozole is an anticancer medication which was approved for its medical use on 27th December 1995.

Mechanism of Action of Anastrozole

Anastrozole is a potent and selective non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor that blocks the enzyme aromatase in all the tissues and inhibits estrogen production. This drastically reduces estrogen levels and ultimately inhibits the growth and spread of hormone receptor-positive tumour cells.

Uses of Anastrozole

Anastrozole Tablet has been developed to treat early and advanced hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have not responded to other anticancer therapies. It is also indicated as a second-line therapy to prevent hormone receptor-positive breast cancer and to treat male gynaecomastia.

Anastrozole Dosage available

Anastrozole is available as a film-coated tablets in the dose 1mg that is indicated for oral intake daily, with or without meals.
